When Baileys revealed their latest ‘flavour’, vegans and health nuts (pun intended) all revelled in delight at its latest almond milk liqueur which is gluten and diary free! As our vegan athlete Luke mentioned, looks like veganism is here to stay and they like their alcohol too. Thus, we happily came up with a list of vegan-friendly cocktails with Baileys’ latest Almande which are guaranteed to put everyone in a happy mood! Shh…your non-vegan friends wouldn’t know the difference.
Baileys’ new Almande Almond Milk Liqueur is a gluten-free and dairy-free vegan liquor that combines the tastes of almond milk and vanilla and works great as a substitute for most milk or cream-based cocktails. So, without further ado, let’s try out some sweet recipes that are sure to knock you off your feet.
Melon Collie Martini
Ingredients:
⅔ Part Malibu Rum
1 ⅓ Parts Almond or Soy Milk
⅔ Part Light Rum
1 Part Melon Liqueur
1 ⅓ Parts Almande
⅓ Part White Cacao Liqueur
We start our list off with a fruity drink that will make you feel like you’re on a tropical island. The Melon Collie martini packs a punch but it’s all balanced out well with the Malibu Rum’s coconut taste and the Melon Liqueur’s fruity essence. Combine that with the Almande and White Cacao Liqueur, and you get an added sweetness and milky taste.
Like James Bond likes to say, this is then shaken, not stirred. Put it all into a shaker with ice before serving in your favourite glass.
Blushing Russian
Ingredients:
½ Part Absolut Vodka
½ Part Kahlúa
1 Part Almande
½ Part Amaretto
The Blushing Russian packs a strong punch thanks to the Absolut Vodka, but it’s all balanced out thanks to the Almande’s sweet and creamy flavoured as well as Amaretto. Add in the Kahlua for a bitter edge, and you’ll have a drink that is sure to make you blush. Just make sure you stir it before serving with ice so that you don’t blush too soon.
Absolut Vanilla Avalanche
Ingredients:
½ Part Amaretto
1 Part Absolut Vanilia
½ Part Almande
5 Pieces of White Chocolate
1 tsp Vanilla essence
1/2 cup Ice
Almond flakes (for garnish)
This version of Absolut Vanilla is an almond delight. It might not be too powerful as a drink, but it’ll be one that’s sure to please anyone’s sweet tooth. Blend the liquids, ice and white chocolate in a mixer before pouring it into a glass. Garnish with the almond flakes.
Blind Russian
Ingredients:
3/4 oz Almande
3/4 oz chocolate liqueur
3/4 oz Kahlua
1/2 oz butterscotch schnapps
There are quite a few cocktails with the word Russian in them aren’t there? Well, this one has a bit of a sweeter edge to it than the Blushing Russian. Mix in the Kahlua and chocolate liqueur with some butterscotch schnapps for a reasonably thick base, then fill the glass with Almande to properly smooth out everything and shake them properly. The result should still be a pretty thick drink, so watch out for those milk (or in this case almond milk?) moustaches!
Tiger’s Milk
Ingredients:
1 ½ measures Brandy
150 ml Almande
1 tsp Sugar Syrup
Cinnamon powder
2 measures Gold Rum
1 cinnamon stick (optional)
No, it’s not made with actual tiger’s milk (not that we’ll deprive any baby tigers of their mother’s milk…not very vegan, is that?). Either way, this drink is sure to be as ferocious as a tiger with the kick it packs.
The method of preparing it is the same one here. Mix all of the ingredients until they are appropriately combined then sprinkle some cinnamon powder on top. You can even add a cinnamon stick as a garnish.
Opal’s Toasted Almond Drink
Ingredients:
1 part Bailey’s Almande
1 part Kahlua
1 part Vodka
1 part Amaretto
Time for some more creamy goodness, the mix between vodka and Kahlua in this one is good enough to keep anybody awake. If mixed and blended correctly with the Almond and Amaretto, then you might end up with a cocktail that’s perfect for a “special” kind of milkshake.
Amaretto Iced Coffee
Ingredients:
2 oz Amaretto
4 oz Almande
3 tbsp Vegan Whipped Cream
8 oz of coffee and sugar
This is in tribute to Baileys’ Irish Cream…which is often added into Irish Coffee. It’s as simple as having your coffee as your base, adding as much Almande as you like, topping that off with some Amaretto before adding more creaminess with some optional vegan whipped cream. However, if that’s not available, then just drizzle some chocolate sauce on top to make it an adult mocha! If you want it to be a milkshake, add half a cup of ice and half an avocado and blend everything in a mixer.
And that’s just a few of the recipes you can make with this new vegan Baileys and now, get out there and try these recipes out, don’t get too excited, though.
