Singapore’s growing interest in padel was on display recently as players, sponsors and supporters came together for a charity sporting event that raised more than S$42,000 for local community programmes.

The inaugural Charity Padel Tournament Singapore, organised by Marriott International and the Marriott Business Council Singapore, took place from 28 to 30 May 2026 at Ricochet Padel in Sentosa. The three-day event raised S$42,772.94 for Community Chest Singapore, with all proceeds supporting a range of social service programmes.

Padel’s Growing Popularity in Singapore

Padel has seen increasing interest in Singapore over the past few years, attracting players looking for a social and beginner-friendly alternative to traditional racket sports. Combining elements of tennis and squash, the sport is often praised for being accessible to people of different fitness levels and playing abilities.

The tournament welcomed both recreational and experienced players, creating an inclusive environment where participants could compete while contributing to a charitable cause. A total of 32 teams and 64 players took part across two divisions over the three-day event.

For many busy professionals, sports such as padel can provide opportunities to stay active while maintaining social connections. This is particularly relevant as more Singaporeans seek practical ways to incorporate movement into their routines without committing to highly structured fitness programmes.

Competition Meets Community Impact

The tournament culminated in a final featuring some of the region’s top players, including Singapore’s top-ranked padel player Enzo Chua and Malaysia’s top-ranked player Christian Didier Chin, who partnered for the first time and secured the Champion Division title. The competition also featured several club coaches, allowing participants to compete alongside experienced players.

Beyond the matches, the event included a charity auction, awards ceremony and rooftop celebration, creating opportunities for participants, sponsors and supporters to connect outside of competition.

How the Funds Will Be Used

According to organisers, all proceeds from the tournament will be donated to Community Chest Singapore. The funds will support programmes serving children with special needs, youth-at-risk, adults with disabilities, families facing financial challenges, individuals with mental health conditions and seniors who require additional support.

As conversations around wellbeing continue to evolve, community-focused sporting events are increasingly being recognised for their ability to support both physical activity and social connection. While charity initiatives provide direct financial support to beneficiaries, they can also encourage healthier lifestyles and stronger community engagement among participants.

More Than Just a Sporting Event

The event was supported by a range of corporate sponsors and partners, including Ricochet Padel, Maybank Singapore, BIPO and Adidas, alongside numerous hospitality and lifestyle brands.

Organisers noted that the strong response from participants and partners has created momentum for future editions of the tournament, with plans already being considered for a larger event next year.

As padel continues to gain traction locally, events such as these demonstrate how sport can serve multiple purposes β€” from encouraging movement and social interaction to raising awareness and support for community causes.
