A landmark exhibition of regeneratively farmed WA produce was launched today by Western Australian Agriculture and Food Minister, the Honourable Alannah MacTiernan MLC, at Raffles City.

The Minister is in Singapore to support Western Australian growers and food and beverage producers improve penetration into international markets, such as Singapore.

There is a new opportunity to also enter an emerging premium market for regeneratively and sustainably farmed produce.

Regenerative agriculture is a farming practice that focuses on enhancing soil biology, and so, reducing reliance on synthetic inputs and increasing the nutritional value of the food produced.

The WA Regenerative and Sustainable Produce Promotion, which runs from 2 to 9 September during mall operating hours, offers an engaging series of educational content. Visitors will hear messages from Western Australian farmers about how they are focused on the future of agriculture and learn how we can all play an important part in the future of sustainable food production.

It showcases examples of regeneratively and sustainably farmed Western Australian produce such as fresh meat, sweet corn, bananas, avocados, black barley, oat milk, wines, pumpkin soup and truffle mash.

Children can ‘farm’ fruit and vegetables from an interactive display, visitors can take seed cards to grow their own food at home, and at the end of the pop-up experience, visitors are invited to participate in a short survey and receive a gift (while stocks last).

Western Australia has a strong, clean and green reputation with global consumers and many of our producers and agribusinesses have now embraced regenerative agriculture and sustainability practices. The regenerative farmers have the prospect of attracting a premium for their products. We also want to gauge consumer sentiment in Singapore to understand what is important to them when buying food.”

The promotion features 11 Western Australian businesses, complemented by a collaboration with Curtin University’s Perth and Singapore campuses undertaking a survey to gauge market sentiment and inform trade and market intelligence.

The Western Australian exhibition is part of Raffles City’s Project Green campaign, a sustainability-focused showcase at the mall’s level 3 atrium. It also coincides with Food and Hotel Asia – Food and Beverage 2022, Asia’s premier trade exhibition, where a diverse showcase of premium Western Australian food and beverage products will be on display.

The Western Australian Government’s showcase at Food and Hotel Asia – Food and Beverage 2022, features produce from 25 local businesses, and an additional 40 Western Australian businesses are exhibiting at the event throughout the Australia Pavilion.
