Getting our hair looking just right is one of the most difficult challenges that many of us face when it comes to arranging our perfect look everyday. Every other aspect of our routine – our nails, our skin – everything can be tamed with the right products. And yet our hair seems to want to be the unruly child, the one that just won’t sit still and behave.

In their desperate bid for a hair styling routine that is reliable, but which doesn’t require dousing your precious hair in a bunch of unpronounceable chemicals, many people are waking up to the various non-invasive options that are available for those who know what they’re doing. Let’s take a look at some of the natural yet effective ways to style and change the texture of your hair.

Straightening Your Hair Without Heat

Sometimes, we all find ourselves in the mood to straighten our hair. For some women, and men, straightened hair just looks a bit better. However, for many of us who have been blessed with bountiful curls, wearing our hair straight now and then is an excellent way of mixing things up and of trying something new.

The problem is, straightening our hair usually involves the application of a reasonable amount of heat, something which can cause damage to the hair itself. Fortunately, there is an alternative for straightening the hair that requires no heat at all. In order for you to do this, you will need to mix together a cup of milk with a tablespoon of honey.

Apply this bizarre combination to your hair and leave it to sit for an hour. After an hour has passed, you can then rinse your hair clean. Once it’s clean, resist the urge to dry it yourself. Instead, let it sit in the air until it is roughly halfway dry. You can then use the cool setting on your hairdryer to dry your hair without causing any heat damage.

How to Style Hair whilst Keeping it Healthy

No matter what type of hairstyle you want, whether you are craving that straight-hair, the high-powered female lawyer look, or you’re more taken with something a little bit more rebellious and punk rock, we all want to be able to style our hair in the way that we see fit.

Unfortunately, just as with straightening our hair, styling it often requires that we expose it to the kind of heat and other conditions that many of us would rather avoid. For these people, you are best looking into the various ways that you can style your hair without exposing it to such conditions.

One of the most important steps for you to take is to ensure that you are washing your hair with a shampoo and conditioner that features protection from UVA/UVB rays. This means the product will protect your hair from the more harmful effects of the sun.

Another important aspect of hair maintenance if you want to keep your hair as healthy as possible, and minimise your use of non-natural ingredients is to make sure that you treat your hair the right way following a shower. As soon as you step out of the shower, you should squeeze your hair over the sink to get rid of excess moisture. Once your hair is no longer dripping, then you can wrap your head in a towel and leave it to finish drying.

By following these simple tips, you will find that you are left with healthier hair that is much easier to manage. If you are apprehensive about adding any more artificial chemicals into your hair than you absolutely have to, this guide should put your mind at ease.
