For many women, looking put-together isn’t the challenge.
Finding time for it is.
Between work, caregiving, commuting and everything else that fills modern routines, daily makeup can quietly become optional. That’s one reason semi-permanent beauty treatments such as lash lifts, brow enhancements and lip blush are becoming more popular in Singapore.
Ahead of my upcoming session at Monostudio, I spoke with founder Yoyo, whose studio focuses on natural-looking enhancements designed to simplify everyday routines rather than dramatically change appearances.
As she explained:
“With services like brows, liner or lip blush, clients wake up looking polished and put-together with minimal effort. It’s not just about efficiency, but also consistency—looking good at any time of the day.”
That shift from transformation to practicality is exactly why lash lifts are gaining attention among busy working women.
Why Semi-Permanent Beauty Treatments Are Becoming More Popular
Semi-permanent treatments sit somewhere between skincare routines and traditional makeup.
Instead of adding time to your morning, they remove steps from it.
Many clients choosing lash lifts or lash extensions today aren’t preparing for special occasions. They’re simply trying to make everyday life easier while still feeling confident heading into meetings, school runs or social plans.
For women already juggling multiple roles, small efficiencies like this can make a surprising difference.

How Lash Lifts Work With Other Semi-Permanent Enhancements
Lash lifts rarely exist in isolation.
Brows frame the face.
Lip blush supports natural complexion.
Lash lifts open up the eye area.
Together, they create what Yoyo describes as a “balanced prepped look” rather than a made-up appearance.
This layered approach explains why lash lifts are often recommended as part of a broader low-maintenance beauty routine rather than as a standalone treatment.
Can Lash Lifts Work on Short or Straight Lashes?
One common assumption is that lash lifts only work if your lashes are already long.
In reality, lash lifts enhance what you naturally have by lifting lashes from the root. Even straight lashes appear longer once redirected upward.
Results vary depending on lash length and density, but the effect is usually noticeable with the right technique and rod selection.
That makes lash lifts especially appealing for readers who prefer natural-looking beauty treatments instead of dramatic changes.

Lash Lifts vs Lash Extensions: Which One Fits Your Lifestyle?
Choosing between a lash lift and lash extensions isn’t about which is better.
It’s about which suits your routine.
Lash lifts:
- look natural
- require minimal maintenance
- don’t need infills
- allow normal lash care after the first 24 hours
Extensions:
- create fuller volume
- suit shorter or sparser lashes
- require regular upkeep
- need more careful handling
According to Yoyo, the right choice usually depends on whether someone prefers effortlessness or visible impact in their daily look.
Are Lash Lifts Suitable for Sensitive Eyes?
Some clients turn to lash lifts after reacting to lash extensions.
Because lash lifts don’t involve attaching fibres along the lash line with adhesive, irritation risk may be lower for some people. However, consultation and patch testing are still recommended where necessary.
Suitability often depends on lash condition, lifestyle and previous treatment history.
How Long Lash Lifts Last in Singapore’s Climate
Humidity affects many beauty treatments, but lash lifts typically last between six and eight weeks in Singapore.
Extensions usually last closer to four weeks.
That difference alone makes lash lifts appealing for women who want results without frequent salon visits.

Do Lash Lifts Damage Natural Lashes?
When performed correctly and spaced appropriately between sessions, lash lifts should not damage natural lashes.
Studios typically recommend conditioning serums and proper aftercare to maintain lash strength over time.
Healthy lashes are what make the treatment effective in the first place.
What Aftercare Is Needed After a Lash Lift?
Aftercare is straightforward but important.
During the first 24 hours: avoid water, steam and heavy sweating
During the first 48 hours: avoid eye makeup such as mascara
After that, maintenance is minimal compared with extensions.
For readers already managing packed schedules, this is often the biggest advantage.
Common Misconceptions About Lash Lifts
The most common misconception is expecting the same volume as extensions.
Lash lifts enhance your natural lashes rather than adding new ones.
Another assumption is that everyone gets identical results. In reality, lash density, length and eye shape all influence the final outcome.
Understanding this helps set expectations before your first appointment.

My Lash Lift Experience at Monostudio
Monostudio’s space immediately stood out for feeling different from the typical enclosed treatment-room setup many beauty studios use.
The studio has an open layout with natural daylight coming in through the windows and a peaceful view overlooking the Singapore River, which made the entire session feel unexpectedly calming. Instead of feeling clinical or procedural, the environment felt relaxed and welcoming — closer to a quiet wellness space than a traditional beauty appointment.
Soft jazz music played in the background throughout the session, and the treatment itself was comfortable enough that I nearly fell asleep.
The overall experience felt smooth and unhurried, with nothing particularly tedious about the process — something that matters more than people expect when you’re lying still for close to an hour.
The Results: Natural, But Noticeably Lifted
The final effect looked very natural.
Rather than dramatic volume like lash extensions, the result resembled freshly crimped lashes that subtly opened up the eye area. It’s the kind of difference that makes you look more awake rather than more “made up”.
For anyone trying to simplify their morning routine without completely giving up the definition lash extensions provide, this sits comfortably in between.
Personally, I’ve been letting my natural lashes rest after previously doing extensions and had started noticing they were becoming slightly thinner. This made a lash lift feel like a practical middle-ground option while waiting for them to regain strength.
Even so, the lift alone already made me feel a little more confident heading out without mascara.

A Small Detail That Made the Experience Feel Thoughtful
One detail I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did was the lash brush provided after the session.
Instead of the standard disposable spoolie that most studios give, Monostudio lets clients choose from a selection of transparent glitter-handled lash brushes stored inside miniature test tubes. It’s a small gesture, but one that made the experience feel more personalised and considered.
These touches often shape whether a studio feels memorable or interchangeable.
One Thing That Could Be Improved
The treatment bed itself was slightly narrow, and I wasn’t entirely sure where to place my hands during the session.
I eventually tucked them behind my back, which became mildly uncomfortable after about 30 minutes. It wasn’t a major issue, but it was the only moment during the appointment where I became aware of the treatment setup rather than relaxing into it.
When Lash Lifts May Not Be the Right Option
During the session, I also asked whether Monostudio ever turns clients away from lash lifts if their lashes are too short.
The answer was yes.
If lashes are extremely short, lifting them may not create a visible enough difference. In those cases, the studio typically recommends using lash serums first and returning once lash length improves.
That kind of honest consultation is reassuring — especially for first-time clients who may not know what results to realistically expect from natural-looking beauty treatments like lash lifts.
