FairPrice Foundation (FPF), the charitable arm of NTUC FairPrice, has launched the Protein Pledge Singapore—a S$1 million commitment to provide fresh protein to undernourished communities across the nation over the next five years.

The pledge focuses on distributing fresh eggs to beneficiaries such as low-income families, the elderly, and migrant workers. The initiative responds to findings from FairPrice Group’s 2024 A Full Plate report, which revealed a strong preference for fresh protein over processed food among recipients of food aid.

Throughout 2025, more than 46,000 individuals will benefit from this program, thanks to partnerships with organisations like Lions Befrienders, Children’s Aid Society, Migrant Workers’ Centre, and M3. Community groups and charities interested in participating are encouraged to register at go.fpg.sg/protein-pledge.

Vipul Chawla, Group CEO of FairPrice Group and Board Member of FairPrice Foundation, explained, “Our Protein Pledge aims to address the nutritional needs of the vulnerable by providing access to fresh protein—an essential component of a healthy diet.”

This pledge is part of FPF’s larger commitment to tackling food insecurity. In 2024 alone, the foundation:

  • Donated 45,000 eggs to support underprivileged households

  • Delivered 12,000 nutritious breakfast bundles to Primary 6 students via Cheers Breakfast Club

  • Rolled out Start Strong, Stay Strong, a preschool nutrition and sustainability programme

  • Organised a nationwide food drive under the A Full Plate initiative

  • Sponsored special discounts for CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders during SG60
