A Collaborative Effort to Support Senior Health

FairPrice Group (FPG), through its philanthropic arm FairPrice Foundation (FPF), has partnered with Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) to bridge the nutrition gap among seniors in Singapore. The collaboration aims to improve awareness, access, and adoption of healthy eating habits among older adults, supporting their independence and overall well-being.

Launching the Stay Strong Programme

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), both organisations will co-develop the Stay Strong programme, a gamified nutrition education curriculum tailored for seniors. The nationwide rollout is planned by end-2026, with the goal of making nutrition learning more engaging and accessible in community spaces across Singapore.

In addition, FPG’s Own Brands and Food Solutions division will work with TTSH to co-create nutritional solutionsdesigned to combat malnutrition among seniors.

Insights from the Stay Strong Study

The partnership follows findings from FPF’s Stay Strong study, conducted in 2025 to understand challenges seniors face in accessing proper nutrition. The survey of over 500 seniors uncovered key insights:

  • Knowledge gaps: Six in ten seniors could not identify what constitutes a healthy plate.

  • Taste vs. nutrition: Taste ranked as the top priority for meals, with nutrition and cost tied in fourth place.

  • Protein deficiency: Although most seniors recognise the need for more protein, half still fall short of recommended intake.

  • Lack of proactive learning: 60% rarely seek new information about nutrition.

  • Cultural influence: 70% said family traditions and habits guide their eating choices.

TTSH doctors and dietitians contributed expertise to debunk common nutrition myths and educate seniors on what truly defines a balanced meal.

Empowering Seniors in the Heartlands

FairPrice Group CEO Vipul Chawla shared that the initiative builds on FPG’s commitment to making everyday living better for Singapore’s ageing population. “Through Stay Strong, we hope to empower seniors with the nutrition access and education they need to age healthily and independently,” he said.

TTSH CEO Adjunct Professor Tang Kong Choong added, “Nutrition is key to recovery and independence. By extending our hospital’s geriatric and dietary expertise into the community, we can make a tangible impact where seniors live and eat.”

A Broader Commitment to Community Health

The Stay Strong initiative complements FPF’s wider ‘Start Strong, Stay Strong’ vision, which supports Singaporeans from early childhood through to their golden years. Other ongoing efforts by FPG and FPF include:

  • Neighbourhood Food Share — expanding to 60 distribution points by end-2025.

  • Cheers Breakfast Club — providing nutritious breakfasts to over 12,000 Primary 6 students.

  • CHAS Discount Expansion — doubling savings for large low-income families.

  • The Carbon Gallery — Asia’s first carbon education hub promoting sustainability.

  • A Full Plate — Singapore’s largest food donation drive reaching nearly 700,000 beneficiaries.
