A Decade of Lifesaving Service and Collaboration

To mark Bloodbank@Westgate Tower’s 10th anniversary, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) and the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) have announced enhancements to the Adopt a Bloodbank programme—an initiative designed to strengthen community partnerships and encourage regular blood donation among organisations and individuals across Singapore.

Launched in 2023, the programme now includes 35 adopters across all five Bloodbanks. It aims to create a long-term, sustainable pool of donors by engaging workplaces, social groups, and community partners to “adopt” their nearest Bloodbank and promote regular donation drives among employees or members.

A New Four-Tier Partnership Framework

The revamped programme introduces a structured four-tier partnership model that rewards organisations for their commitment and impact on donor recruitment. Participating partners can progress through tiers based on sustained contributions, with recognition ranging from digital badges and discounted first aid courses to exclusive marketing collaborations and loyalty programmes.

This new framework moves beyond symbolic recognition by offering tangible benefits aligned with corporate social responsibility goals, while simultaneously reinforcing the nation’s healthcare resilience.

Introducing the Blood Partner Award

To further celebrate corporate contributions, a new Blood Partner Award will debut during next year’s World Blood Donor Day. This award honours organisations that support the national blood donation ecosystem in innovative ways—whether through sponsoring giveaways, sharing expertise, or providing marketing support.

Companies such as Oatside and Popmart have already demonstrated this spirit by sponsoring products and giveaways for donor appreciation events, helping to make blood donation a vibrant and inclusive part of Singapore’s culture. Community Champions of Bloodbank@Westgate Tower

Over the past decade, Bloodbank@Westgate Tower has played a pivotal role in serving the western region of Singapore. About 70% of its donors are local residents, collectively contributing more than 215,000 units of blood—around 17% of Singapore’s total supply.

Seven organisations, including Lubrizol Southeast Asia, the Republic of Singapore Air Force, and the SAF Combat Service Support Command, have formally adopted the Bloodbank. Their continued engagement has not only boosted donor participation but also inspired younger generations to step forward and give blood.

A Shared Mission of Care and Sustainability

The Adopt a Bloodbank initiative and Blood Partner Award together represent a renewed national effort to make blood donation a regular part of Singapore’s social and corporate fabric. By combining public service with sustainable engagement, HSA and SRC are cultivating a future-ready blood donation culture—one that strengthens community resilience and ensures that every drop continues to save lives.
