The Home Nursing Foundation (HNF) is thrilled to announce the return of its annual cycling fundraiser, Tour de Care 2024, with a renewed focus on inclusivity and community support. Set against the stunning backdrop of Marina Bay and Nicoll Highway, this event invites cyclists of all ages and abilities to join a 20KM ride in solidarity with HNF’s ailing patients.
Guest-of-Honour Mdm Rahayu Mahzam, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Health, will also be there to flag off the event. Building on the resounding success of last year’s event, which saw over 600 dedicated cyclists participating, Tour de Care 2024 promises to be an even more engaging and impactful experience for the community.
Triathlete Choo Ling Er, a participant in the previous year’s event, expressed her enthusiasm for supporting Tour de Care again, emphasising athletes’ crucial role in leveraging their influence and experiences to contribute meaningfully to society. “As a sportsperson, it’s not just about the competition; it’s about using my platform to create awareness and give back to the
community,” she shared.
Lim Thiam Hee, a dedicated cycling group member of HNF’s Active Ageing Centre, is also proud to support this year’s event. His passion for cycling and commitment to the cause exemplify the diverse community spirit that Tour de Care aims to foster. Familiar faces include Sam Lee, a fervent supporter who cycled a total of 1,015KM in Tour De Care 2023, and Mediacorp Artiste Ben Yeo, who are thrilled to announce their continued involvement as the excitement builds for this year’s event.
Inclusivity Takes Center Stage
Tour de Care 2024 is putting inclusivity at the heart of the event this year, introducing a particular Mobility Ride segment. Specifically designed to accommodate individuals with disabilities and elderly participants facing mobility challenges, this segment features a shorter 1KM track. This thoughtful addition ensures that those with disabilities or mobility impediments can actively participate and contribute to the charitable cause.
This year, the event welcomes a strategic partner, Ageless Bicyclists Ltd, a non-profit social enterprise that wholeheartedly supports this initiative. Ageless Bicyclists conducts active, healthy lifestyle programs for silver communities, youths of different abilities, and families. They will provide adaptive tricycles/tandem/recumbents for cyclists with different abilities to participate.
“It’s heartening to witness organisations being inclusive to the needs of different abilities and I’m delighted to support them,” said Malcolm Chen, founder of Ageless Bicyclists.
