Are you concerned about your sagging skin, wrinkles, and double chin?  Thinking of getting a facelift but you’re looking for a non-surgical solution? We did and as such, we tried out the non-invasive ultrasound treatment called Ultherapy at Privé Clinic and you can watch our full review video below. But first, let’s explain what Ultherapy is and how it works.

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive FDA-approved ultrasound treatment that counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your skin, without any downtime. Ultherapy uses the body’s own regenerative response to gently and gradually lift the skin on the neck, under the chin and on the eyebrows, as well as smooth out lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.

How does it work?

Ultherapy delivers focused ultrasound energy which has unique properties that allow it to bypass the surface of the skin non-surgically, to treat depths of up to 4.5mm under the skin. It has been scientifically proven that ultrasound energy can stimulate collagen production in the skin’s foundation. This results in a clinically significant lift of tissue over time as new collagen works to lift and tighten the skin under the chin, on the eyebrow as well as smooth skin on the chest and neck. In general, Ultherapy helps in reducing skin wrinkles.

Ultherapy uses the body’s own natural healing process to gently lift the skin over time. Unique to Ultherapy, the use of ultrasound imaging enables doctors to see and then treat the deepest support layers of the skin – typically addressed in cosmetic surgery – without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin.

What’s unique about Ultherapy is the use of traditional ultrasound imaging, which allows doctors to see the layers of tissue they are treating, ensuring the treatment energy is delivered to where it will be most beneficial.

If you want to know how the procedure feels like, do watch our full review video below. However, do note that comfort levels (as well as pain thresholds) vary from person to person and the sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered.

Is it an alternative to facelifts?

While Ultherapy does not duplicate the results of a facelift, it’s an alternative for those who are looking for a non-invasive and non-surgical treatment used for skin tightening. Ultherapy has been used safely in over 1 million treatments worldwide. Ultherapy has also received the European CE mark for non-invasive dermatological sculpting and lifting of the upper face, lower face, neck and décolletage.

“Ultherapy represents a whole new category within aesthetic medicine,” says Dr. Karen Soh, Medical Director of Privé Clinic. “It is an ideal procedure for those looking for natural yet noticeable results with no downtime.”

The treatment typically takes around 90-minutes. Afterward, patients are able to return to normal activities right away, and there are no special post-treatment measures they need to take.

How long will it last?

Most patients require only one treatment, but it will also depend on the degree of skin laxity, as well as the individual’s biological response to the ultrasound energy and the collagen-building process. Results after a single session can last up to a year. As the skin continues to age, future touch-up treatments can help patients keep pace with the body’s natural aging process.
