Curious Thoughts Giving (CTG), a registered non-profit charitable organisation that empowers children from all walks of life to receive equal access to quality education, has partnered with Art Wonderland, a children’s art studio that nurtures independent and curious learners through art. They will have their first fundraising initiative with the two-day #CHILDRENFORCHILDREN Family Carnival.

Held on 9th to 10th September at The Arts House, there will be a host of activities such as storytelling by The Twisters, exciting performances, raffle lucky draw, play invitations, and a variety of parent-and-child programmes by Art Wonderland, Thann Singapore and SALTT Workshop. The highlight of the carnival is a children’s art auction showcase created by students of Art Wonderland aged 3-12 years old, in hopes to raise funds for CTG’s beneficiaries.

As the title suggests, #ChildrenForChildren aims to instil in students a sense of altruism for others and a belief in the power of art to give back in meaningful ways. This was a 4-week project that encouraged over 90 children to explore the power of art as a tool for positive change, creating a unique artwork with their own story to be discovered.

The result of this project leads to the art auction showcase titled “My Own Mountain to Climb”, that encourages children to reflect on a difficult challenge that they have overcome and to share that moment and achievement with others viewing their artwork. For instance, in The Giraffe Who Paints in the Playground by Jacob Chin, Jacob the Giraffe loves painting but often makes a mess. He decides that all he needs are the right tools and he can paint anywhere! I Can Fly!, by Kayla Ng, tells the story of a piglet’s wish to fly. Working hard for a solution and seeking the help of a group of blue butterflies, they worked together to overcome the odds, and helped the little piglet lift her trotters off the ground. These artworks and more will be exhibited and open for auction from now until the 10th September.

We hope this project inspires other children to think out of the box, and see art as a powerful tool that can create a positive impact on others. That has alway been our mission and what motivates us to continue using art as a tool to bring communities together.”

All donations will go towards hiring experienced teachers, purchase and creation of learning materials, outreach efforts to help more children, and supporting the operational costs for the charity. Throughout CTG’s programmes, CTG provides free quality literacy and phonics classes to children from less privileged backgrounds. Beneficiaries are children aged 3 to 10 years old, from low income families, and have been identified as poor readers or writers. They might have an (un)diagnosed development issue such as ADHD or dyslexia.

This is the first time we are embarking on a fundraising exercise on such a scale and we hope we can all come together to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children. Any donation will be welcome and there will be a delightful array of performances, engaging art workshops, and thrilling activities for the whole family, all in support of a worthy cause. Let’s make a lasting impact together!”
