We live in an era where people always have to be running around and keeping a presence both on and offline. Whether it’d be managing your work schedule, family or your daily life, it can get pretty tiring and stressful with time, with no sign that it’s going to stop anytime soon. Because of that, why not go on a special retreat as a way to let off steam and tune the world out.
With the Easter Holidays coming up, we thought of coming up with your list of favourite retreats where you can have a chance to escape from your hectic lives. We’ve looked at retreats with a focus on wellness because what better self-care than to also have a time to relax both your mind and body!
Ananda in the Himalayas – Garhwal, India
What better place to go to for a retreat than the birthplace of yoga, meditation and many other Buddhist arts. Situated in the far northern reaches of the Himalayas is Ananda in the Himalayas, a resort that takes the roots of Indian culture by offering a wide variety of activities that’ll help you work up a sweat and relax.
In this retreat, you’ll be able to visit the spa where they have aromatherapy treatments, or walk around and breathe in the fresh air from the 100 acres of forest that surround it. If you want to unwind, however, you can also try some yoga at its very own winter garden, with a view that’s enough to make anyone clear their minds.
Anantara Angkor Resort – Siem Reap, Cambodia
Anantara is one of the biggest resorts in Cambodia, which offers guests a brand new set of activities to enjoy as well as a look into the culture and history of its country in every square inch of the hotel.
Guests will be able to explore the ancient temples located around the site as well as kayaking and learning some of Cambodia’s unique cooking styles. People who want a quieter and peaceful experience aren’t left out either, as they’ll get to enjoy Antara’s new library and spa.
The hotel also offers 39 freshly renovated suites, some with indoor gardens and balconies that are perfect for enjoying a romantic dinner under the stars. Lastly, guests will have a personal butler who will guide them and help with anything they need during their stay.
Capella Singapore – Sentosa Island, Singapore
Of course, taking a retreat somewhere closer to home is also fitting, and what better place than Singapore’s own award winning hotel, Capella Singapore. Capella offers a five star experience, with modern buildings that intermingle with the colonial buildings and vibrant rainforest and a spa that anyone would die for, all coupled with a great selection of world-class food.
If you have a family and book a stay between 14-16 April, you’ll also get to enjoy Capella Easter, an event designed around family bonding. Guests will be able to enjoy the annual Sunday Easter Brunch, cooked by French chef Olivier Rodriguez. Children will also be able to enjoy from an array of activities such as a magic show, egg painting corners and the hotel’s very own easter egg hunt.
Koh Khoon Villa – Koh Samui, Thailand
Koh Khoon Villa is one of the new retreats being led by E:scape. It offers luxurious retreats designed to provide a well-balanced physical, social and emotional experience. It boasts everything from workshops about stress management and even offers a special coach for every guest that can give them individual sessions. It isn’t just a place of rest either; people who are looking to get a bit of workout can also attend the villa’s fitness retreats and even explore their more adventurous side.
For its latest retreat, E:scape has chosen the island of Koh Samui thanks to its quiet and relaxing atmosphere, complete with beautiful beaches and stunning views you can’t get anywhere else. Koh Samui has also quickly become a destination site for wellness tourists and has the added benefit of not being nearly as crowded as other islands, such as Bali.
If you’re someone that’s looking to make a lifestyle retreat for yourself or the whole family, then this is something you should check out.
The Comfort of Your Own Home
What if you don’t have the time or budget to travel? Fear not as you don’t really need to go to some far off place to relax. However, you can have your digital detox right in the comfort of your home. Plan a day in which you can disconnect completely from the devices around you. Stay in the favourite part of your home while you listen to music, read or meditate. Take the time to plan your meals and cook healthy (check out some of our recipes) for yourself and family. You can also take the day to participate in workshops or events that can help you socialise and learn new skills or more about yourself, of which we offer many. The possibilities of what you can do without having to leave your home or your country are truly endless.
Regardless whether you choose to go overseas or have a staycation, retreats are great to unwind and get out of your usual hectic schedule and take time for yourself. Reconnect and be a happier you.
