Never Too Early: A Guide to Talking about Sex with Children
16/06/2022 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
S$25As parents, we will receive thousands of questions from our children but the one type of question that we often fear is the sexual related topic. Talking about sex, sexuality, and bodies should not be an intimidating experience because it is an important part of their journey in helping them to have a healthy relationship with themselves, their body, and the people around them.
The most important messages we want to provide are that you are open to talking about this topic, you provide a safe and non-judgmental environment, and give them confidence that they can rely on you for the right information when they have any questions or curiosity about it.
However, sexual education is not a one-off conversation like having “The Talk” when they got in trouble or when you think they are ready for it, but it is an ongoing conversation that we can start from a young age with simple language and evolves with more details as they grow up.
What to expect from this talk:
- Understanding what is sex education
- How to be comfortable with sexual topics
- When do we start talking about it
- How to talk about it
- The importance of having this conversation
This talk is suitable for anyone who is a caregiver, educators or parents to prepare them to be confident and comfortable in talking about sex with the children under their care.

Fee: By donation. Recommended S$25. All contributions will be given to our workshop presenter as an honorarium.

About Andrea Koh
Andrea Koh has always been passionate about sex education since young when she noticed how the lack of sexual knowledge in the community causes sexual issues and nothing is being done to help prevent it. Therefore, she decided to be the person that started the trend of making sexual topics more open and fun to talk about.
Having a Master of Sexology from Curtin Australia and currently doing her Master of Professional Counselling at Monash Malaysia have provided the skills and knowledge to educate and help individuals or couples with relationship and sexual concerns. She has also received American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) CEs on supporting clients to overcome Vaginismus. For the past 4 years, she has been co-treating women and couples from overseas and across Malaysia with vaginismus issues along with in-house Physiotherapists at Vibrance Pelvic Health Centre using a multi-disciplinary approach. She has also been featured in HerInspirasi and Jelita magazines on topics related to relationships and sex. Other than that, Andrea has experience in educating the public about STI/HIV, safe sex, relationship and sex, and how pelvic health can improve one’s quality of life.
