Sing! Men’s Chorus Celebrates 20 Years of Community and Harmony

Sing! Men’s Chorus (SMC) proudly announces its 20th-anniversary celebration kicking off with a special launch party on May 30th, 2024. The event will showcase the choir’s milestones and offer a live preview of their upcoming anniversary concert in September.

SMC was established in 2005 to offer an opportunity for individuals interested in singing in an all-male choir and to introduce another form of choral music for public enjoyment. Throughout the 2 decades, the choir has slowly grown to nearly 60 alumni members and an average of over twenty active members each season.

Anniversary Concert Highlights Timeless Favourites and New Premieres

SMC’s 20th anniversary concert, “SMC Celebrates 20 Years of Timeless Harmony,” will spotlight iconic pieces from the choir’s rich history alongside exciting new additions. The concert promises to be a moving celebration of SMC’s dedication to pursuing authenticity in music-making, yet also injecting its own brand of quirky entertainment that has delighted audiences through the years.

A Legacy of Inclusivity and Community Building

For two decades, SMC has provided a safe and welcoming space for men of all backgrounds to express themselves through song. The choir’s commitment to inclusivity and fellowship has fostered a strong sense of community, enriching the lives of its members. The choir remains committed to supporting and uplifting communities in need, through its special brand of entertainment, which includes working with organisations such as The People’s Association, The Greenhouse, and Pink Dot. SMC has also represented the Singapore voice at the biennial Hand in Hand Festival, an Asian-based choral festival organised by Proud Voices Asia.The choir is dedicated to supporting the local community in all its diversity and promises to continue its legacy of joyful song for years to come.

In a time where acceptance, belonging and a sense of family are principal themes toward cultivating positive mental wellness (especially among men), SMC finds itself even more relevant today than when it was first founded.
