SUMMARY:Sugar & Spice Festival 2020
DESCRIPTION:The Sugar and Spice Festival aims to change the belief that people raised in traditional societies are unable to express themselves when it comes to sex – what are their preferences and attitudes. Perhaps it is their conservative upbringing or the fact that sex has often been a taboo topic not to be spoken of at home. Our aim is to impart positive messages and learning around sex\, sexuality and sexual wellness. We want to empower participants to listen\, learn and find wellness. \nThroughout this festival we will work to change the mindset of participants\, freeing them from any cultural norms that have resulted in low sexual self-esteem and a fear of enjoying the pleasures of sex. We aim to fill the gaps in the lack of sexual education and positive role models when it comes to sexuality. \nThe online nature of our Festival lets participants from all over the world connect with others who may have a similar upbringing. To ensure that the sessions are dynamic and interactive\, speakers and facilitators are all experts in their field. The Festival programme includes a range of talks\, workshops\, guided meditations\, dances\, breathwork and yoga. \n\n  \nOur founder\, Melissa Fann\, will be presenting a workshop entiteld “Reframing Our Body Image” on the 4th August 2020 at 7pm (Singapore Time). Through this workshop\, you’ll find out how to reframe some negative thoughts that you have about yourself and gain clarity to rediscover your authentic identity. \nLearn how your perception of your body may not necessarily be the truth and how to embrace your flaws while taking steps to improve them while still loving the whole you. \nInteractive workshop. There will be breakout sessions where attendees will need to be honest but also giving loving feedback to each other. \n\nImages: Sugar & Spice  \nVideo: The Wellness Insider

SUMMARY:Singapore’s First Online Conference on Holistic Preconception & Fertility Wellness
DESCRIPTION:Want a safe\, open sharing and learning environment to find out more about a holistic and natural approach towards fertility? The Precious Plan 2019\, Singapore’s first online conference about holistic preconception and fertility wellness has been announced by Hearty Mums\, a movement founded on the belief that hearty and fulfilled Mums will raise hearty and resilient kids who will\, in turn\, make our world into a happy\, hearty place. \n \nThe Precious Plan aims to raise awareness of holistic natural ways to take care of the mind and body during preconception and improve fertility. There will be a week-long series of interviews with Singapore’s preconception & fertility experts culminating with a panel discussion. \nWhile prenatal and postnatal care is widely represented\, fertility care remains a taboo topic in Singapore. Most fertility support focuses on resolving infertility with technology and medications\, leading many women to go directly for treatments\, and being inadequately informed of how to prepare themselves physically and mentally for an enjoyable conception journey and pregnancy. Every emotion during this period\, whether with fertility issues or not\, can affect the pregnancy and development of the child. \nThrough The Precious Plan\, the organiser hopes to encourage more open conversations around natural conception and fertility in Singapore\, so women are better informed of how to prepare themselves for a healthy and happy conception journey\, and the important factors that can affect their future pregnancy and their future baby. \nThe brainchild of Sofie Hon\, a mother of 2 girls\, The Precious Plan is Sofie’s wish to empower women to create the best start for their babies\, starting right from preconception. Inspired by her own journey of becoming a mother and her experience coaching other Mums in the last three years\, Sofie saw a great opportunity to build a community for mutual support\, to equip women with the right tools\, knowledge\, and most importantly the emotional support while going through the journey and beyond\, juggling family and career. \nThe Precious Plan is happening on 12 – 16 November 2019 and is free. To find out more about the speakers and sign up for the event\, do visit www.heartymums.com/precious-plan or www.facebook.com/heartymums \n\nPhotos: Hearty Mums \n  \n\n

SUMMARY:Empower Girls & Women Through a Run Across the Serengeti
DESCRIPTION:Following on the incredible success of the Serengeti Girls Run in 2018\, Singita and the Grumeti Fund are thrilled to announce that entries for the 2019 event are officially open. The all-women run forms part of Singita’s signature collection of conservation safaris called “Safaris With A Purpose\,” and is held in partnership with the Grumeti Fund to support the empowerment of girls and women in rural Tanzania. \n \nComprising five all-inclusive days at Singita Sabora Tented Camp\, this year’s itinerary includes a variety of activities and a run that will see participants complete 21 kilometres daily over 3 days\, traversing some of the most iconic wilderness areas in Africa. \nThe multi-stage event invites runners of all levels to cross the vast plains in Singita’s private concession in the western corridor of the Serengeti\, where they’ll encounter an abundance of wildlife and breathtaking scenery at every turn. They will be accompanied by expertly trained\, experienced anti-poaching scouts from the Grumeti Fund\, who’ll keep an eye out for curious animals\, while a support team in a shadow vehicle will be on hand to take care of their safety and comfort. \n \nThe event’s home base\, Singita Sabora Tented Camp\, is an intimate 1920s-inspired explorers camp that embodies the magic of a bygone era. Featuring opulent chandeliers\, Persian rugs and bowls filled with fresh roses\, it provides a space for the runners to rest and recuperate at the end of every day. \nThe exclusive\, purpose-driven experience is aimed at raising funds for empowerment programs for girls and women\, which are focused on providing opportunities for women to become leaders in conservation. Each donation assists in funding numerous non-profit initiatives\, including scholarships for local girls in secondary school\, vocational studies and university; training girl mentors and providing life skills and internships; as well as enterprise development training for women and environmental education for girls from local secondary schools. \n \nSerengeti Girls Run offers participants various opportunities to engage with the women who benefit from these programmes. The day after their arrival\, guests can join girls from the local community on a short 4km fun run\, followed by a career fair\, where they can share their own inspiring stories with hundreds of girls from neighbouring villages. \nDuring the five-night itinerary\, the participants will also visit the Grumeti Fund’s Environmental Education Center\, which hosts week-long courses for local students on conservation and minimising our impact on the Earth\, as well as an opportunity to meet the Fund’s anti-poaching team to find out how they preserve and protect the region’s critical ecosystem. \nThis year’s event will take place from October 25-30\, 2019. The experience costs US$8\,500 per person (single) or US$6\,000 per person (sharing) for the all-inclusive 5-night package\, including Grumeti Air return flights to Kilimanjaro; an additional tax-deductible donation to the Grumeti Fund of US$16\,500 per person (single) or US$9\,000 per person (sharing)\, used to fund empowerment programmes in the Serengeti. \nTo book your place\, email Katherine Cunliffe\, info@grumetifund.org or visit www.singita.com \n  \n\nPhotos: Singita

SUMMARY:Love & Light Festival Returns For a Second Year
DESCRIPTION:After it’s inaugural run last year\, the Love & Light Festival is back at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention. Organised by Laughing Soul\, the festival is set to bring an even more comprehensive line-up of “lightworkers”\, exhibitors and retailers to provide guidance and support for festival goers on a journey of self-discovery of the mind\, body and soul. What’s different this year is that the festival will run twice this year – the first one taking place from 10 to 12 May and the second run happening from 29 November to 1 December. Admission to both is free. \n \nExplore\, discover and awaken\nFind deeper meaning to one’s life and purpose through this festival as you meet practitioners who may shed light to your questions of restlessness; help clear and cleanse negative energy or emotions while you go on a self-healing journey with cards or crystals reading. Converse with likeminded individuals or curious seekers who are searching for ways to be the best of themselves and bring positivity to others. \n \nAt last year’s Love & Light Festival \n  \n“My goal is to connect people through Love & Light Festival\, to allow them to see the love and light within us\, and spread that to every soul we touch – be it family\, friends\, colleagues or even acquaintances. To be honest\, the first step itself is already not an easy feat. Life is never a bed of roses and it is downright challenging at times\, with all the chaos and struggles to just keep up. What we want to do is provide the platform and the environment for people to pause (for some healing)\, to take stock (review and reflect) and to get clarity through the guidance provided in the festival. This will hopefully help them discover that spark within so that peace and serenity can be realised\,” said Ms Ng Hui Ling\, founder of Laughing Soul and the organiser of Love & Light Festival. \nThe lightworkers\n  \n \nFirst time participants of Love & Light Festival this year include renowned stone master Graham Cox from England\, who has been practicing since he was 14 years old. He is the founder of Stones Journey and will be sharing on the various types of crystals and their benefits\, alongside Justin Saw and Eugene Leong of The Crystal Alley\, who will read your oracle cards and aura to bring clarity of the chakra one possesses. \nBack from last year are Jasmine Miller\, who uses insights and visions to take you on a personal spiritual discovery journey; be captivated by Australian artist Angela Millar whose art pieces are created to bring serenity to your soul. The trio from YIS of Light\, Tung Ya Ning\, Iris Leng and Samuel Soon\, will guide you on the spiritual path to discover your Divine Self. Raine of Light’s Lorraine Low has returned to channel higher guidance\, clarity and healing to those in need. Warrior of Light’s Lynn Loke\, who identifies as a clairvoyant light warrior\, is is a healer and also a certified body therapist. \nAll of the above services are aimed at healing the mind\, cleansing the soul and soothing the emotions. \nServices available at the Love & Light Festival 2019 include: \n\nAngel card reading\nChannelling\nCrystal healing\nCrystal reading\nEnergy healing\nGroup meditatin\nOracle card reading\nSale of crystals and art pieces\nSound healing\nTarot card reading\n\nAdmission is free for all. \n\n\n\nDates:\n10-12 May 2019\n\n\nTime:\n11am – 8pm\n\n\nVenue:\nMelati Room (Level 4)\nMarina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre\n\n\n\nFor more information and updates on Love & Light Festival\, do follow them on their social media: \n\n\n\nWebsite:\nwww.loveandlightfestival.com\n\n\nFacebook:\nwww.facebook.com/LoveandLightFestival\n\n\nInstagram:\nwww.instagram.com/loveandlightsg\n\n\nOfficial hashtag:\n#loveandlightsg\n\n\n\n\nPhotos: Love & Light Festival \n
