SUMMARY:Tradition in Motion: Singapore’s Lion Dance Heritage
DESCRIPTION:Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) is proud to present Tradition in Motion: Singapore’s Lion Dance Heritage\, a special exhibition for the upcoming Chinese New Year that showcases the rich history\, evolving customs\, and contemporary expressions of lion dance in Singapore.  \nFeaturing over 50 artefacts\, photographs\, posters and figurines\, the exhibition highlights the enduring significance of lion dance in Singapore\, its diversity\, innovations\, and achievements of local lion dance troupes. The exhibition is anchored by a display of eight lion heads\, representing the variety of lion dance styles practised in Singapore including the familiar southern lion dance\, and the less common Hainan Lion and the Fujian Green Lion. \nPresented through three main thematic zones\, the exhibition first explores the history\, traditions\, and customs of lion dance in Singapore. The exhibition also reveals the intricate craft of lion head making\, featuring a handcrafted lion head made by Singapore’s last lion head craftsman\, Henry Ng\, shown in its first and final stages of production.  \nThe second zone explores Singapore’s lion dance culture as it continues to thrive in Singapore today. In this zone\, visitors can view the Genting World Lion Dance Trophies won by Yiwei Athletic Association in 2023 and 2025\, and learn how our local troupes continue to embrace diversity by opening its doors to members of all ages and ethnicities\, and adapting lion dance routines for senior performers. \nThe final zone showcases pop-culture representations of lion dance that highlight contemporary culture’s ongoing fascination with lion dance. From vintage posters of films such as Once Upon a Time in China III to limited-edition collectibles like the Uniplay Fortune (Mer)lion Dance figurine\, the exhibition showcases lion dance as an enduring source of inspiration for cultural offerings. \nSCCC Chief Executive Officer\, Mr Alvin Tan\, said\, “Through the exhibition\, we hope that visitors can learn more about lion dance\, including its early roots\, the unique traits of lion dance in Singapore\, how it continues to be manifested through popular culture\, and more. We also hope that visitors will not only feel proud of the achievements of our local lion dance troupes\, but be inspired by their resilience and ongoing efforts to ensure that lion dance becomes not only an enduring artform but a cultural heritage that Singaporeans can be proud of.” \nVisit Tradition in Motion: Singapore’s Lion Dance Heritage to learn how the traditional art form of lion dance continues to innovate\, and how it remains a vibrant symbol of culture\, resilience\, and community spirit. The exhibition will be on display at SCCC Concourse Level 1\, 9am to 10pm\, from 11 December 2025 to 30 April 2026. Admission is free. \n\nImage: Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre

It wasn’t just theory in a slide deck\, it was real\, relevant\, and designed for impact.  Each week built on the last\, covering everything from the history of sexology to anatomy\, communication\, consent\, sexual diversity\, and cultural competence. I loved the balance of evidence-based content with inclusive\, pleasure-positive approaches that reflect the realities of modern relationships and sexual health. One of the absolute highlights for me was the triad work. I learned so much from my triad mates\, their perspectives\, experiences\, and feedback added layers to my understanding that I could never get from the handouts alone. It made the learning richer\, more dynamic\, and so much more human. I’m walking away with language\, strategies\, and confidence that I can apply in my advocacy. This wasn’t just education; it was equipping me with my sexology “superpowers” for life.” – Brightly Abby\, 12 Aug 2025 (3rd intake) \n“Human beings are really complicated and there are even more permutations when people get into relationships. There’s no one size fits all approach to relationships or sexual relationships and we do not all have to fit into the social construct to be okay. i.e.\, Sex does not have to be only penetrative to be called sex.” –  Shayne\, Week 10 Couples Therapy and Sex Therapy (3rd intake) \n“It’s given me the opportunity to reflect on a deeper level about my sexuality\, as well as my partner’s sexuality in a manner that has opened up more conversation\, exploration\, and awareness in our relationship. Discussions with my partner also helped me understand how a client may need to be incredibly mindful of the safety and reassurance they offer their partner when having such discussions.” – Anonymous\, Week 7 Sexual Fantasies\, Kinks\, and Pornography (3rd intake) \n“This week’s theme on listening\, framed through the three dimensions—Listening to What is Said\, Listening to What is Felt\, and Listening to What is Emerging—has significantly deepened my personal growth and understanding of sexuality education. This integrative listening approach fostered a more holistic and compassionate engagement with the subject\, reinforcing the importance of both cognitive and emotional receptivity in sexuality education.” – Catherine Toh\, Week 5 Communication Skills in Sexology (3rd intake) \n“I often struggle to balance the differences between couples\, especially when compromises often come from the partner that is more exploratory. It is interesting to hear that with safety and respect for the lower libido/ desires\, it invites the other partner to explore out of their comfort zone. Although we agree that the incompatibility might sometimes mean couples choose to go their separate ways\, the focus on creating safety gave both partners a chance to consider their partner’s preference.” – Alicia Phua\, Week 5 Communication Skills in Sexology (3rd intake) \n“One of the greatest new insights I gained was just the vast amount of knowledge a sex counsellor had to have. And that makes sense because as much as sex is not spoken about in public usually\, there are so many aspects of sexuality and it is only ethical for a sex counsellor to be adept in the knowledge.” – Julian Lim\, Week 1 Introduction to Sexology \n“I appreciate you so much Martha! This course was fantastic in it’s depth and range of topics. You treat so many difficulty/sensitive topics with respect and role model the practice of Sexology with grace and humour. I hope to be as impactful as you are in my work. Thank you\, thank you\, thank you for all that you have done to create this program. Thank you for being such an incredible voice of allyship. You have set the bar very high and I won’t let you down. The content you focus and teach on is of high value and importance in societies throughout the world. I am excited to embark on this new path\, armed with this training to embolden me.” – Chrystal Toop\, 25 June 2024 (2nd intake) \n“Thank you for giving me a great insight learning and have a different exploration of the whole course.” – Anonymous Student\, 25 June 2024 (2nd intake) \n“Very comprehensive course. Really appreciate sharing your personal experiences. Thank you so much!!!” – Anonymous Student\, 25 June 2024 (2nd intake) \n“Martha is a generous in her vulnerability and authenticity as an educator and practitioner. This course is important for any therapist to attend as sex and sexuality are not talked about especially in Asian families and in an Asian context. Sex and sexuality is an important facet of human relationship and functioning which has gone changes and meaning as time evolved. It is especially important for counsellors to learn about such topics more especially in crafting healthy sexual conversations with our young and what they need to know.” – Tonia Goh\, 12 Dec 2023 (1st intake) \n“Sexuality is one of the major components in life to most of the people\, while it is not a comfortable topic to talk about especially in Asia. Similarly\, such a professional course is rather rarely conducted in the educational field\, even in Singapore. The structure of progamme and coverage of planned topics is relevant and wide\, facilitating a better disposition as a professional helper with the added knowledge and skill sets when serving the concerned clienteles.” – Krish Phua\, 6 Dec 2023 (1st intake) \n“Dr. Martha’s expertise in evidence-based sexuality is exceptional. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn her framework\, gaining confidence in supporting clients with both relationship and sexual concerns. This certification provides a holistic overview\, combining macro and micro skills\, filling a crucial gap in the field. Thank you\, Martha\, for offering this invaluable certification and for offering to provide continuous support.” – Sharinder Kaur\, 16 Nov 2023 (1st intake) \n“A taboo topic which has rooms for more attention and awareness. Sexual health is as important as physical and mental health. A holistic approach and wellness to life.” – Shaza Teo\, 16 Nov 2023 (1st intake) \n“Great info and education for all mental health professions.” – Eve\, 11 Aug 2023 (1st intake) \n\n💖 This will be our 4th intake due to popular demand. 💖 \nGet your non-obligatory virtual informational session here. \nStudent Bonus: All previously recorded virtual trainings estimated to be worth S$1k for one year. SUMMARY:National Ballet of China’s A Dream of Red Mansions in Singapore
DESCRIPTION:JUST LIVE proudly presents A Dream of Red Mansions\, performed by the internationally acclaimed National Ballet of China\, making its highly anticipated Singapore premiere in March 2026. As part of the National Ballet of China’s Asia tour\, this celebrated two-act ballet transforms Cao Xueqin’s literary masterpiece into a breathtaking stage experience\, fusing classical ballet technique with the poetic nuances of Chinese cultural aesthetics. \nThe 2-hour performance follows the romance of Jia Baoyu and Lin Daiyu\, set against the rise and decline of the Jia family. As the ballet unfolds\, Jia Baoyu drifts into a dreamlike realm where the souls of flowers\, childhood companions\, and echoes of past lives weave through an ethereal landscape. Playful innocence shimmers alongside the bittersweet ache of first love and parting\, while each movement\, costume\, and play of light shapes a living reverie — a world both luminous and poetic\, hauntingly beautiful and unforgettable. \nDrawing on over six decades of artistic mastery\, the National Ballet of China interprets Cao Xueqin’s novel with subtlety and depth. Every gesture\, tableau\, and musical phrase reflects the company’s distinctive blend of Western classical technique and Chinese artistic heritage\, evoking the story’s romance\, longing\, and ephemeral beauty for audiences. \n \nAt the heart of this production is a visionary creative team led by Executive Director and Producer Feng Ying and General Choreographer Tong Ruirui\, supported by Scriptwriter Feng Li\, Stage Designer Liu Xinglin\, Costume Designer Yang Donglin\, Lighting Designer Liu Zhao\, and Composer Ye Xiaogang\, whose evocative score highlights the romance\, longing\, and ethereal beauty of Jia Baoyu’s journey. Their combined artistry translates the novel’s intricate emotions into an immersive performance\, where movement\, visuals\, and music converge to capture the essence of A Dream of Red Mansions. \n“The vision to bring A Dream of Red Mansions to life through dance has been close to my heart for many years\,” said Tong Ruirui\, the General Choreographer of A Dream of Red Mansions Ballet. “Through this ballet\, we invite audiences to step into Jia Baoyu’s dream: a space where love\, memory\, and imagination intertwine. Every gesture reflects the emotional currents of this extraordinary story. It is our hope that audiences will leave with a deep sense of connection to the beauty\, longing\, and timelessness of these characters’ lives\,” he continued. \nBringing Tong Ruirui’s vision to the stage\, JUST LIVE envelops the performance in world-class lighting\, set\, and stage design. “We are thrilled to bring the National Ballet of China to Singapore\,” said Alain Brochu\, Marketing Director of JUST LIVE. “JUST LIVE’s vision has always been to create unforgettable live experiences\, and this collaboration allows us to showcase the exquisite artistry of one of the world’s premier ballet companies while immersing audiences in the poetic\, dreamlike world of the Rong Mansion\,” he added. \nExperience a performance where every visual\, every note\, and every breath of movement evokes the essence of A Dream of Red Mansions\, reflecting on love\, destiny\, and the fleeting nature of life itself. \nTickets & Showtimes* \n\nDates: 12 – 15 March 2026\nShowtimes: 8:00 PM daily\, with an additional matinee at 2:30 PM on 14 March 2026\nVenue: Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay\, Singapore\nTicket Categories: Cat 1 (S$388) | Cat 2 (S$288) | Cat 3 (S$188) | Cat 4 (S$158) | Cat 5 (S$88) | Premier Box (S$388) | Balcony (S$188)\nEarly Bird Tickets are now available. Against the backdrop of the grand Rong Mansion\, Jia Baoyu’s childhood unfolds alongside Lin Daiyu and Xue Baochai\, as innocence\, first love\, and the fleeting joys of youth are tenderly explored. Playful moments in the Grand View Garden coexist with the melancholy of parting and the quiet awareness of life’s impermanence\, creating a poetic tapestry of memory\, love\, and longing. \nAs the story progresses\, Jia Baoyu faces familial pressure\, personal loss\, and the complications of romance\, culminating in a dramatic confrontation between desire and duty. From birthday celebrations to tragic revelations\, he navigates the tensions of love and societal expectations\, ultimately retreating into a solitary\, reflective world. In the epilogue\, the ethereal vision of the past lingers as Jia Baoyu bids farewell to the intertwined fates around him\, leaving audiences with a haunting meditation on love\, destiny\, and the ephemeral beauty of life. \nFor more information on A Dream of Red Mansions Ballet\, please visit https://www.sistic.com.sg/events/mansions0326.  \n\nImages: JUST LIVE and National Ballet of China

DESCRIPTION:A community run built around zero-waste living returns this April\nIncome Eco Run 2026 returns on 19 April 2026 at Bayfront Event Space\, continuing its focus on encouraging climate-positive habits through a family-friendly running event centred on sustainability. \nNow in its latest edition\, the run invites individuals\, families and even pets to take part in distances suited to different fitness levels while supporting environmental awareness through practical everyday actions. \nHeld under the theme “How Far Will You Go for Zero Waste?”\, the event combines physical activity with community participation and eco-education initiatives designed to make sustainable living more accessible. \nNew distances for children and pets\nThis year introduces expanded participation categories to make the event more inclusive across age groups and lifestyles. \nAdults can take part in: \n\n21.1KM Half Marathon\n15KM run\n10KM run\n5KM run\n3KM run\n\nChildren aged 4 to 9 years old can join the 700M Kids Dash\, while those aged 10 to 12 years old can participate in a 1.2KM youth run. \nPet owners can also sign up with their cats or dogs for either a 700M or 1.2KM Pets Category run\, allowing families to participate together in a shared sustainability-focused experience. \nSupporting climate action through every kilometre completed\nAs part of its environmental commitment\, the event will contribute $1 for every kilometre clocked towards a green cause supporting sustainability education and outreach initiatives. \nPrevious editions have supported programmes designed to introduce students and educators to eco-friendly practices and environmental awareness through experiential learning. \nZero-waste practices continue across the event experience\nIncome Eco Run 2026 continues to strengthen its sustainability framework through a range of practical zero-waste measures implemented before\, during and after race day. \nThese include: \n\ncompostable plastic-free hydration cups at water points\nreduced-size run bibs to minimise paper usage\nencouragement for participants to reuse existing running shirts or wear orange tees\ncomposting of organic waste generated during the event\ndigital race medals instead of physical medals\nupcycled materials used for children’s medals\ncarbon offsetting linked to event logistics and participant travel estimates\n\nTogether\, these initiatives aim to demonstrate how large-scale community events can reduce environmental impact while encouraging more conscious lifestyle habits. \nSustainability learning journeys for young participants\nFollowing the run\, children can sign up for specially designed Eco Experience learning journeys created in collaboration with sustainability partners. \nThese sessions introduce young participants to topics such as: \n\ne-waste recycling processes\ncomposting food and paper waste\nidentifying eco-labels while grocery shopping\nunderstanding circular economy practices\n\nThe sessions are offered as parent-child activities to support early exposure to environmental awareness through hands-on learning. \n \nOptional sustainability-designed event tee\nParticipants who wish to purchase an event tee can opt for a commemorative design created by local illustrator Tammy Chew of @teechewpaper\, using recycled materials derived from plastic bottles. \nThe shirt is intentionally positioned as an optional add-on rather than standard race entitlement\, reinforcing the event’s emphasis on reducing unnecessary merchandise waste. \nEvent details\nEvent: Income Eco Run 2026Date: Sunday\, 19 April 2026Time: 4:30am to 11:00amVenue: Bayfront Event Space\, SingaporeDistances: 21.1KM\, 15KM\, 10KM\, 5KM\, 3KM\, Kids 700M & 1.2KM\, Pets 700M & 1.2KMRegistration fees: From $40 (adults)\, $16 (children)\, $20 (pets category)Registration link: https://www.income.com.sg/ecorun \n\nImages: Income Eco Run

SUMMARY:Scaredy Kat Presents
DESCRIPTION:A Youth Theatre Story About Anxiety\, Courage and Creativity\nGateway Arts’ latest youth theatre production Scaredy Kat Presents arrives in Singapore this May with a multimedia-driven performance that explores how young people experience fear\, friendship and self-doubt. Directed by award-winning theatre-maker Yvan Karlsson and written by playwright Janine Sobeck Knighton\, the production blends live performance with stop-motion animation and puppetry to bring the emotional world of its young protagonist to life. \nThe story follows Kathryn\, a girl who has lived with anxiety since childhood. She finds comfort in creating stop-motion films inside her room\, building a miniature world where she can safely express emotions she struggles to articulate in real life. When a new classmate enters her carefully controlled space\, Kathryn must decide whether she is ready to step beyond fear and embrace change. \nMultimedia Storytelling Designed for Young Audiences\nThis production marks Gateway Arts’ first theatre project to integrate live visual feeds and stop-motion filmmaking into its storytelling. A specially created stop-motion sequence featuring handcrafted puppets offers insight into Kathryn’s inner emotional landscape\, reflecting themes of insecurity\, loneliness and courage. \nAlongside the animated elements\, larger-scale puppetry appears within the live performance itself\, creating a layered theatrical experience that communicates feelings visually rather than relying purely on dialogue. \nThe result is a performance designed to resonate with young audiences navigating uncertainty while also helping parents and educators better understand how children process anxiety and self-confidence. \n \nSupporting Conversations About Mental Wellness\nEach performance will be followed by a facilitated post-show discussion led by TOUCH Counselling & Psychological Services. These sessions provide audiences with opportunities to reflect on themes such as social anxiety\, peer pressure and emotional resilience\, while offering practical perspectives from mental health professionals. \nThrough storytelling and guided reflection\, Scaredy Kat Presents aims to create a shared space for families\, educators and young people to talk more openly about emotional wellbeing. \nWho Should Watch This Performance\nRecommended primarily for audiences aged 10 to 14\, the production is also suitable for parents\, educators and anyone interested in stories about growing up\, friendship and overcoming fear. The show runs for approximately 75 minutes with no intermission. \nEvent Details\nPerformance Dates (Public Shows)23 May 2026 – 3:00pm\, 7:30pm24 May 2026 – 3:00pm29 May 2026 – 7:30pm30 May 2026 – 3:00pm\, 7:30pm31 May 2026 – 3:00pm \nSchool Shows21\, 22\, 25\, 26 and 28 May 2026 \nVenueGateway Theatre Black Box3615 Jalan Bukit MerahSingapore 159461 \nTicket PricesEarly Bird: S$36 (excluding booking fees)Standard: S$45 (excluding booking fees; eligible for SG Culture Pass) \nRegistration Linkhttps://gatewayarts.sg/portfolio/scaredy-kat-presents \n\nImages: Scaredy Kat

SUMMARY:Earthopia Fest 2026
DESCRIPTION:As conversations around sustainability continue to grow in Singapore\, Earthopia Fest 2026 is returning with a more immersive and community-driven experience designed to make climate action feel more accessible\, creative and practical for everyday life. \nTaking place from 29 to 31 May 2026 at Fort Canning Green\, the three-day festival will bring together youth groups\, green businesses\, artists\, wellness practitioners and sustainability advocates for a large-scale public event centred around conscious living\, creativity and community engagement. \nOrganised by City Sprouts\, the festival is expected to feature more than 100 content partners and over 5\,000 participants across workshops\, panel discussions\, wellness sessions\, performances and interactive installations. \nA Sustainability Festival Designed for Everyday Living\nRather than presenting sustainability as something intimidating or expensive\, Earthopia Fest 2026 aims to connect greener living with daily habits and lifestyle choices. Visitors can expect activities that explore sustainable fashion\, food\, wellness\, urban farming\, conscious consumption and low-waste living in approachable and engaging ways. \nThe festival programme includes hands-on eco workshops\, guided tours\, interactive games and community-led experiences that encourage visitors to rethink how sustainability can fit naturally into modern lifestyles. \nOne of the key highlights is the Earthling Exchange\, which will showcase science fair exhibits\, volunteer opportunities and climate innovation projects that encourage visitors to take action beyond the festival grounds. \nFashion and circular living will also play a major role through Circular Styles\, a dedicated thrift and sustainable fashion zone exploring style\, identity and consumption through a more environmentally conscious lens. \nWellness\, Climate Conversations and Creative Expression\nBeyond sustainability education\, Earthopia Fest 2026 will also place strong emphasis on wellness and emotional resilience. Visitors can participate in gentle yoga\, yin yoga\, sound bowl healing and nature-inspired movement sessions throughout the festival. \nPanel discussions curated with ecosystem partners and the Inter-University Environmental Coalition (IUEC) Singapore will cover topics such as climate pollution\, urban heat resilience and nature-based solutions. The programme will also include conversations around climate anxiety\, reflecting growing concerns about environmental stress and emotional wellbeing among younger generations. \nThe event will additionally feature a variety of live music performances\, film screenings and community acts designed to make the festival feel more like a shared cultural experience rather than a traditional sustainability conference. \nArt Installations Made From Waste Materials\nSeveral large-scale art installations created from repurposed materials will also be displayed throughout the festival grounds. \nAmong them is Our Current Creatures\, featuring floating jellyfish-inspired forms made from discarded plastic materials\, as well as E-Fossil: A Warning From Our Time\, an installation imagining what future generations may uncover from today’s e-waste and industrial consumption. \nOther installations include SOAR\, an upcycled bird sculpture made from discarded milk bottles\, and Disposable Planet\, a large Earth-inspired artwork constructed from colourful fabric scraps to spotlight circular fashion and textile waste. \nLive Music and Weekend Performances\nMusic and entertainment will also be part of the festival experience\, with a concert line-up featuring local acts such as Sobs\, Heema Izzati\, Club Mild\, Shye and The Jukuleles on the evening of 30 May. \nThe wider programme will include performances by emerging artists\, school groups and community performers across the three-day event. SUMMARY:Great Green Run 2026
DESCRIPTION:Great Green Run 2026 Returns to Marina Barrage with Sustainable Race Experiences and Green Bazaar\nThe Great Green Run 2026 Singapore returns for its third edition this June\, bringing together fitness\, sustainability and community participation in a race experience designed to encourage environmental responsibility alongside healthy living. \nOrganised by Modellscape and TRI-FACTOR\, the event continues to position itself as more than a typical running event. Instead\, it aims to inspire participants to adopt greener lifestyle habits while engaging in activities that support climate awareness and social impact. \nThis year’s edition is part of Singapore’s wider Go Green 2026 initiative\, reinforcing the run’s alignment with national sustainability goals and community-driven environmental action. \nA Run Designed Around Sustainability\nParticipants can choose from three race categories — a 10km run\, 5km run and an 800m parent-child dash — making the event accessible to runners of different ages and experience levels. \nIn line with its sustainability theme\, finishers will receive plantable medals\, encouraging runners to continue their environmental contribution even after race day. \nThe event also introduces The Hive\, a new interactive activity inspired by the run’s bee mascot. Designed as an educational engagement space\, it highlights biodiversity awareness and the importance of pollinators through hands-on experiences. \nGreen Bazaar Returns with Two Days of Eco-Friendly Shopping\nBeyond the race itself\, visitors can explore the Green Bazaar\, a sustainability-focused marketplace taking place across two days. Featuring more than 60 stalls\, the bazaar offers a mix of pre-loved fashion\, accessories\, handcrafted goods and food vendors\, creating a lively community platform centred around conscious consumption. \nThe marketplace complements the run’s broader goal of encouraging environmentally responsible lifestyle choices beyond the running route. \nSupporting Climate Action Through Community Participation\nThe Great Green Run continues to bring together runners\, sustainability advocates and organisations with a shared goal of building a greener future. The event also supports Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 and contributes to broader global sustainability objectives through community engagement initiatives. \nIn addition\, small and medium-sized enterprises can benefit from a sustainability initiative supported by the Singapore Manufacturing Federation\, with up to 50 SMEs eligible to receive complimentary carbon footprint reports as part of the programme. \nEvent Details\nEvent: Great Green Run 2026 SingaporeDate: 14 June 2026Venue: Marina Barrage\, SingaporeRace Flag-off Times:• 10km — 7:45am• 5km — 8:30am• 800m Parent-Child Dash — 9:15am \nTicket Prices:• 10km — From S$58• 5km — From S$48• 800m Parent-Child Dash — S$66 per pair \nGreen Bazaar:13–14 June 2026 \nBazaar Opening Hours:Saturday: 9:00am – 7:00pmSunday: 7:00am – 7:00pm \nSign-up Link:https://www.greatgreenrun.com/ \n\nImages: Great Green Run
