SUMMARY:BMDP Hosts Free Family Storytelling Event for World Marrow Donor Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:Families looking for something educational to do with their children this September can learn more about blood\, marrow donation and helping others through a free interactive event at Woodlands Library. \nThe Bone Marrow Donor Programme (BMDP) will hold Olly’s Adventure to Hope: Storytelling & Mission Adventureon Saturday\, 19 September 2026\, ahead of World Marrow Donor Day on 22 September. The 90-minute programme combines simple hands-on activities with storytelling and is suitable for children aged five and above. \nComplete three adventure missions\nFrom 2pm to 3pm\, children will receive an Adventure Passport and make their way through three activity stations. \nThe first introduces children to blood and the role it plays in keeping the body healthy. At the second station\, a matching game helps explain why patients who require a marrow transplant need to find a suitably matched donor. \nFor their final mission\, children can decorate a feather with a thank-you message for marrow donors before adding it to BMDP mascot Olly’s wings. Participants receive a stamp in their Adventure Passport after completing each activity\, and the stations can be visited in any order. \nStorytime with a haematologist and marrow donor\nAt 3pm\, families can gather for a reading of Adam’s Adventure: Saving Sarah’s Smile\, a children’s story centred on friendship\, courage and community. \nThe session will be led by Dr Joanne Lee\, a senior haematologist who is also a marrow donor herself. This gives families an opportunity to hear about marrow donation from someone familiar with both the medical process and the experience of being a donor. \nChildren who participate in the storytelling session will also receive a goodie bag. \nBMDP mascot Olly will also be making an appearance during the afternoon for families who would like to take photographs. \nIntroducing children to marrow donation\nThe event forms part of BMDP’s activities for World Marrow Donor Day 2026 and Blood Cancer Awareness Month. \nRather than going deeply into the medical details\, the programme uses games and storytelling to introduce younger children to concepts such as healthy blood\, donor matching and why people choose to become marrow donors. \nBMDP currently manages Singapore’s volunteer marrow donor register. DESCRIPTION:BYD PURE GAMES 2026 will take over Ngee Ann City’s Civic Plaza on 26 and 27 September 2026\, bringing together functional fitness\, yoga\, recovery experiences and wellness activations in a two-day festival. \nPresented by BYD and organised by PURE Singapore\, the weekend is designed for both competitors and visitors who want to watch the action\, explore new fitness and recovery experiences\, or join specially curated classes at PURE Fitness and PURE Yoga Ngee Ann City. \nTake on the BYD PURE GAMES challenge\nThe main competition combines eight workout stations covering strength\, endurance and agility. The sequence includes a treadmill run\, front-rack walking lunges\, RowErg\, alternating dumbbell snatches\, Assault Bike\, sled push\, SkiErg and a final Hang & Hold. \nThe Team category takes place on 26 September\, with Doubles and Relay formats\, while the Elite category runs on 27 September with Singles and Doubles divisions. According to the event pricing schedule\, standard registration is S$100 for Singles\, S$160 per Doubles team and S$200 per Relay team\, excluding 9% GST\, through 13 September. \nAll challengers receive a kit that includes one week of access to PURE Fitness and PURE Yoga Singapore\, a finisher patch\, PURE merchandise and partner treats. Prizes for the top three placements include PURE memberships and products from Therabody\, Dyson and Kiehl’s. Coaches from Hong Kong will guide visitors through recovery protocols featuring contrast therapy\, sauna and compression massage boots. \nOther activations include BYD vehicle showcases and family-friendly activities\, complimentary hair styling at the Dyson pop-up\, skincare consultations at Kiehl’s\, body composition assessments at the PURE booth\, and product sampling from Bloom. \n \nJoin festival-only fitness and yoga classes\nA separate programme of classes will run at PURE Fitness and PURE Yoga Ngee Ann City during the weekend.
