SUMMARY:Great Green Run
DESCRIPTION:Sustainability-centric business communication solutions platform\, Greenbees and international sports event management company\, TriFactor announced the launch of its first sustainability-driven ‘Great Green Run’ today\, which is set to take place on 24 September 2023 at Great Green Run’s venue partner\, Marina Barrage. \nGreat Green Run is designed to serve as a platform to rally and inspire individuals\, corporations and communities into sustainability advocacy and action. In efforts to promote sustainability\, Great Green Run will also be one of the first sporting events to publicly share its carbon footprint and sustainability initiatives report which will be reviewed and verified by the Singapore Environmental Council (SEC). In addition to this\, every participant is encouraged to make an individual sustainability pledge upon registration\, with options to choose from the five selected United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. \n5 Selected United Nations Sustainable Development Goals\n\n\n\nGood health and well-being\nS$3\n\n\nSustainable cities and communities\nS$11\n\n\nResponsible consumption & production\nS$12\n\n\nClimate action\nS$13\n\n\nLife below water\nS$14\n\n\n\n  \nThe run on 24 September 2023 at Marina Barrage will be divided into two categories – corporate and community run. For the corporate run\, more than 2\,000 professionals\, managers\, executives and technicians (PMETs) from over 50 multinational corporations (MNCs) as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are expected to participate. Among the notable corporations that have shown their interest are RSM Singapore\, CapitaLand\, CIMB Singapore\, SISTIC Singapore and National Healthcare Group. On the other hand\, Great Green Run is expecting more than 3\,000 avid and leisure runners to take part in the community run. \nCIMB Singapore is the presenting sponsor of Great Green Run. The bank has been an active proponent of the Environmental\, Social\, and Governance (ESG) agenda and is the first ASEAN bank to sign the industry-led\, UN-convened Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA)\, a member of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ). CIMB is also continuously stepping up on its sustainability innovation in order to achieve its ambition of becoming a leading ASEAN bank and a sustainability leader. Over the past two years\, CIMB Singapore has executed several significant sustainable financing transactions. In 2022\, CIMB Group doubled its sustainable finance target to RM60 billion by 2024 after having met its original target of RM30 billion two years ahead of schedule. \n \n“Awareness is the first step to any change. As a leading ASEAN bank\, our greater purpose is to advance customers and society towards a sustainable future. We advocate sustainable practices for ourselves as an organisation as well as encourage our people to actively participate in initiatives contributing to positive environmental and social impact. As the presenting sponsor of Great Green Run\, we hope to amplify the awareness on sustainability through our network of partners and communities\, and to inspire a positive change within our circle of influence on integrating sustainable practices in our daily lives\,” said Victor Lee\, Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Singapore. \n“TriFactor is determined to incorporate and champion sustainability practices in all our local and international TriFactor events\, spearheaded by Great Green Run. We are honoured to have CIMB Singapore onboard as our presenting sponsor in our inaugural event in Singapore and to be working together with several key government agencies and sustainability partners\,” said Elvin Ting\, Founder of Orange Room & TriFactor. \n“We are thrilled to organise our inaugural Great Green Run\, in partnership with TriFactor\, the leading multisport brand in Asia. With a strong aim to be the standard bearer of sustainable sporting events\, we wanted a running event because the activity itself has a relatively low environmental impact compared to other sports. We believe running connects people and builds community – you meet new people\, you spend time with people\, and you talk to people with collective shared values. As two purpose-driven organisations come together\, we understand the importance of embedding sustainability in everything that we do to create positive impacts across the business ecosystem\, as well as the community\,” said James Yeong\, Project Director of Great Green Run. \nSustainable development is an integral part of Singapore’s economic growth. As an enabling supporter of local and global sustainability standards\, Great Green Run supports and aligns with the Singapore Green Plan 2030 to advance Singapore’s national agenda on sustainable development. Great Green Run aspires to unite and educate individuals and corporations to build a grassroot movement to address a range of social needs\, while tackling climate change and environmental protection. \nIn addition\, Great Green Run has partnered with some of the leading sustainable territories in the world\, such as the Kingdom of Bhutan\, the world’s only carbon negative country\, and Lahti\, a city in Finland and 2021’s Green Capital of Europe. Great Green Run is also supported by some of the notable brands such as RSM Singapore\, ShopBack\, Tesla\, CapitaLand\, JustRunLah! and more. \nFor more information and to register for the run\, please visit https://greatgreenrun.com/ \n\nImages: Great Green Run

Each day\, 32 shortlisted riders will compete in a single-elimination tournament with the last person standing winning $500 cash and an expenses-paid trip to an overseas cycling event. \nUpcycling makes a Green Impact at PEDALFEST\nIn support of the SG Green Plan\, eco-friendly practices such as water canisters to allow participants to fill their water bottles will be introduced\, while festive goers can also sign up for an Upcycling Workshops to reuse old bicycle rims and parts to create Bicycle Lamp Art to decorate their homes. \nCommunity Engagement and Fun for All Ages\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVintage bike lovers should make a beeline to the Ciclo e Caffe Community Corner to mingle and chat with former champion cyclists and fellow bike collectors. \nThe PEDALFEST SG Bicycle Photo Booth will also capture all festive goers in their cycling attire over two days. All photos – together with future photos of local cyclists taken all over the island in the next few months – will be compiled into a coffee book that will be launched at PEDALFEST 2024. \nParents with young children aged 6 or older can participate onsite to learn about road safety through Safe Cycling Academy clinics\, while adults can enjoy the spin activities using pedal-power stationary bikes to ‘light up the planets’ at the Pedal to the Stars zone. \nA day-pass cost S$38 and comes with a complimentary pack worth over S$50 including a limited edition PEDALFEST t-shirt. SUMMARY:NParks-AIA Explore a Route Challenge
DESCRIPTION:The challenge is conducted using the NParks Explore A Route (NEAR) app\, an updated version of the Coast-to-Coast (C2C) application that was first launched in 2019. The app continues to use interactive augmented reality (AR) elements to provide users with a curated walking experience\, as well as an online trail guide. The revamped app allows users to map their own trail and share it with others. \nThe goal is to encourage individuals to explore our green spaces with their family and friends and lead a healthier lifestyle. The challenge encourages park visitors to enjoy nature in a new way through the revamped app. AIA Singapore is NParks’ first partner that has come onboard to create a challenge on the revamped app. This is part of the life insurer’s commitment to support Singapore’s City in Nature vision for a more sustainable society and for families to live healthier\, longer and better lives together. \nTake part in the challenge and stand to win Decathlon e-vouchers (worth S$50 each) in the monthly lucky draw\, with three 13″ MacBook Air laptops and 10 Fitbit Sense smartwatches up for grabs in the grand lucky draw at the end of the Challenge! \n \nAbout the Challenge\nThe “NParks – AIA Explore a Route Challenge” will commence on 20 May 2022 in conjunction with the release of the NEAR app and will run till 20 July 2022. It is open to all to participate. Participants must play the in-app game Tic Tac Toe Board on the NEAR app which requires them to physically complete various trails ranging from 5 km to 15 km per trail. They will have a chance to win rewards at the end of each month within the challenge period or in the Grand Lucky Draw at the end of the challenge. There are nine starting points across eight proposed trails including the Coast-to-Coast (Central) Trail and various Park Connector Loops. AIA Singapore has contributed close to S$14\,000 worth of prizes\, which include shopping vouchers and a laptop\, towards the challenge. \nThe challenge encourages users to experience the newly added NParks-curated trails and try out the new “Phyll My Trail” feature\, which allows users to customise their own recreational trails in the revamped NEAR app. It empowers users to design routes to suit their interests and discover unique biodiversity and interesting features along the trail. In doing so\, it seeks to improve their physical and mental well-being through the positive effects of nature. \nThe NEAR Application\nSince its initial launch in 2019\, the C2C mobile application has been well received with close to 100\,000 downloads. It features interactive AR elements such as 3D-animated characters. These characters provide interesting information about native flora and fauna\, and surrounding points of interest that users will encounter along our park trails and park connectors. The revamped app now allows users to curate their own trails and share the mapped trails with their in-app friends or on social media for them to experience and enjoy. This will encourage the community to exchange experiences with others and explore a wider variety of trails. In doing so\, Singaporeans will get to appreciate nature more while forging closer bonds. This is in line with our efforts to make Singapore into a City in Nature– a key pillar in the Singapore Green Plan\, which is a national movement to advance sustainable development – to create a green\, liveable and sustainable home for all Singaporeans. \n  \nMore information about the NEAR app and challenge can be found here. \n\nImages: National Parks Board

This year\, it will feature a virtual event where participants can race at their own pace and comfort. This is made possible in partnership with Central Singapore Community Development Council under the ‘Solvate’ programme. \nParticipants will be required to upload proof of their attempted distance and date upon completion of their race on JustRunLah’s website to receive the race medal. \nUnique to this year’s RFI\, used horseshoes from Singapore Turf Club\, the oldest existing and only horse-racing club in Singapore\, will be given a new shine and upcycled as race medals. Participants will receive the limited-edition commemorative medal\, making it a meaningful and lucky memento for all. Singapore Turf Club is Run for Inclusion 2021’s official Event Partner. \nRegistration is at https://www.runninghour.com/registration and closes on 14 Dec 2021. \nFor more information\, please email raceinfo@runninghour.com. \n\nImages: Runninghour
