DESCRIPTION:Marvel at the picturesque and nostalgic depictions of well-loved scenes of everyday Singapore and magnificent landscapes from around the world at Becoming Lim Tze Peng. From 25 October 2024 to 23 March 2025\, National Gallery Singapore presents its first solo exhibition on Singapore’s oldest living and active artist\, Lim Tze Peng\, featuring over 50 artworks curated from Singapore’s public art collections\, the artist’s personal art collection\, and rare archival materials. Visitors can look forward to tracing the artistic evolution of the 103 year-old artist\, with artworks dating back to 1946 and as recent as 2023. \nBecoming Lim Tze Peng is the fourth installment of the 2024 Gallery’s four-part SG Artist series\, which seeks to spotlight visionary Singaporean artists who reflect Singapore’s post-independence spirit and innovation. SUMMARY:Life Lessons With Ah Gong and Ah Ma
DESCRIPTION:The Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre is proud to announce the launch of its first Grandparents’ Day Programme\, set to take place on 23 and 24 November 2024. This event coincides with the weekend of Grandparents’ Day\, celebrated annually on the fourth Sunday of November. \nThe programme\, titled Life Lessons with Ah Gong and Ah Ma\, is inspired by the concept of “Human Library” and comprise intimate sharing sessions featuring distinguished speakers from the Chinese arts\, culture and heritage sector over two days. Among the speakers are Oon Ah Chiam\, whose life story inspired the acclaimed local play Titoudao; Lee Yong Tick\, local veteran broadcaster and voice talent; Francis Wong Hooe Wai\, a former architect turned writer and children’s picture book illustrator; Victor Yue\, a retired telecommunications engineer turned passionate advocate for Singapore’s heritage; Lin Gao\, an acclaimed author whose storytelling has enriched the local literary scene; and Yan Choong Lian\, a visionary contemporary dancer\, dedicated to nurturing Singapore’s dance talents. \nThere will be a total of six sharing sessions held over the weekend at SCCC with each session lasting one hour. The first half hour of each session will be dedicated to a sharing by the abovementioned distinguished speakers followed by a moderated Q&A session. Four of the sessions will be conducted in Mandarin while the remaining two will be conducted in English.
